Father’s Day is right around the corner, and if your dad loves building, fixing, or spending time outside, finding a gift that feeds his passion is the perfect way to show your appreciation. Whether he’s tinkering in the garage, grilling in the backyard, or gearing up for the next big camping trip, these five gift ideas will make his day—and probably his whole summer.

1. Heavy-Duty Multi-Tool

Every DIY dad needs a reliable multi-tool within arm’s reach. Go for something durable with a variety of functions: pliers, screwdrivers, wire cutters, knife, saw, and more. Brands like Leatherman, Gerber and WorkPro Tools are brands that offer tools tough enough to survive years of home repairs and campsite emergencies. I Prefer a clip on mine as opposed to a Holster, but to each dad their own. I typically will carry a Leatherman in my Diamondback Tool Vest set up.

Bonus: Get it engraved with his initials for a personal touch.

2. Smart Outdoor Grill Thermometer

If your dad takes his grilling seriously, a smart wireless meat thermometer can level up his barbecue game. These gadgets connect to a smartphone and track the temperature of the meat and grill in real time, so he gets perfect results every time—without hovering over the grill. Personally, I don't have one of these, but if my family stumbles across my blog post, maybe they could get me one.

Great for the dad who insists on “just five more minutes” but also wants to hang out with the family while cooking.

3. Cordless Power Tool Combo Kit

A dream gift for any DIY dad is a new set of cordless power tools. A combo kit that includes a drill, impact driver, circular saw, and flashlight (with interchangeable batteries) is a game-changer for home improvement projects. Brands like Metabo HTP or Work Pro Tools are popular for their power, battery life, and durability, and each offers a little bit of a different Price point.

Tip: Check what brand he already uses to make sure the batteries are compatible.

4. Portable Fire Pit

Bring the campfire vibes to the backyard with a smokeless portable fire pit. Ideal for relaxing after a long day or roasting marshmallows with the kids, these compact pits are easy to set up, clean, and transport. Some models even come with a cooking grill top for backyard meals. A couple years ago, i was gifted one of these by my wife, its the Members Mark Brand from Sams club and its held up like a champ. We use this thing consistently near the house, for football games in the driveway and when the adults want to hang out and let the kids use the traditional fire pit.

Look for fire pits from other brands like Solo Stove or BioLite—they’re efficient, safe, and stylish.

5. Weatherproof Tool Organizer or Gear Bag

Every hands-on dad needs a place to keep his tools or outdoor gear neat and accessible. A rugged bag or weatherproof gear tote will help him stay organized whether he’s heading to the campsite or fixing up the fence. Features like reinforced bottoms, multiple compartments, and water-resistant material are must-haves. I personally use the Bags from Eberlestock, as they have great functionality, are a bit discreet for the everyday Carry and offer lots of add ons to keep my gear safe and organized.

Bonus: Fill it with a few essentials—like some of the items listed above, Flash lights, wireless Charging banks from Dark Energy and power cords along with other first aid gear.

Wrap-Up:Father’s Day is a chance to show the man who builds, fixes, grills, and explores just how much he means to you. These gifts blend functionality and fun—because when it comes to dads who love DIY and the outdoors, the best present is one that gets used and appreciated all year long.

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads who make home feel like an adventure!
